The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a notification under which mobile operators' accounting separation reports will have to be placed on the Internet and be accessible to the public. Users will be able to view revenues and profits of mobile operators, under distinct heads (kinds) of services like basic, roaming, and value-added services. TRAI had passed a regulation about separation of accounts in 2004. This included the several components of cost, revenue, and profit under distinct headings of services. TRAI Chairman Nripendra Mishra said that all operators submit half-yearly reports showing their revenues and expenditures. The main points of these accounts would now be made public. Listed firms like Bharti, Reliance, Hutch-Essar, and BSNL, among others, will now make their accounts public as per the Sebi rules.
